MY DAUGHTERS DOG WHICH IS AN 60 LB AMERICAN BULLDOG WAS PUT IN HER 6 BY 12 FOOT KENNEL LAST NITE AND THE POLICE OFFICER SAID SHE CLIMBED OUT OF IT AND WAS RUNNING AROUND THE NEGHBOR HOOD SHE WAS NOT HOME AT THE TIME BUT GOT HOME ABOUT 20 MIN AFTER WARDS BY THAN HE HAD PEPPER SPRAYED MY DOG ON MY PROPERTY ON MY FRONT POUCH CAUSE SHE WOULDNT LET HIM KNOCK AT MY DOOR. I DO HAVE BEWARE OF DOG SIGNS AND NO TRASSPASSING SIGNS IN THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE, NOW HER AMERICAN BULLDOG IS HER 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS DOG WHICH SHE LOVES TO DEATH, HER DOG WAS ONLY PROTECTING WHAT WAS HERS, I DONT BELEIVE HER SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT TO HER, THE POOR DOG WAS SCARED TO DEATH. AND THAN HE HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME NOT TO TAKE HER INTO YOUR HOUSE CAUSE HE PEPPER SPRAYED HER AND THAT STUFF STINKS, SHE DID ANYWAY AND WASHED HER EYED OUT WITH WATER AND GAVE HER A BATH.
American Bulldogs are large and can look aggressive to people who do not know them. At least your dog didn't end up being impounded with a large fine to pay. Yes I know dogs do get out of their enclosure, mine did and got shot by my neighbor....no,let's not call him that...scumbag next door. It happens, but we learn from it. Give that Bully a big hug for me
we have a female that can get out of anything, we have to put her on a run, which we feel bad about, because we have 1 acre. fenced in. But she will get out of anything even a 12 ft. fence we have tried it all. Good luck and I hope he is ok.
my daughter is gonna get a big fine 250.00 for 2 dogs and the female was the only one that got out but the officer said shes gonna get fined for both. all she was doing was guarding her property, cause she has had scum bags come their and egg her house and her cars. she is gonna put a top on her kennel also a pad lock on their kennel so this will not happen again.
"I DO HAVE BEWARE OF DOG SIGNS AND NO TRASSPASSING SIGNS IN THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE, NOW HER AMERICAN BULLDOG IS HER 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS DOG WHICH SHE LOVES TO DEATH, HER DOG WAS ONLY PROTECTING WHAT WAS HERS"
Sorry to say you are lucky all they did was pepper spray her. It does not matter what signs you have outside the officer needed to be on that property to notify someone that the dog was at large. I will assume the dog was barking and carrying on a storm at the officer for even trying to knock on the door.
I am sorry this happened to your daughters dog. But hopefully in the future your daughter will keep her dog better contained while she is not home. Or maybe bring the dog inside the home.
A lot of things could have happened. But its up to the officers discretion if he wanted to call or go knock on her door. He choose to knock on her door. A No Trespassing sign does not and will not stop an officer from knocking on ones door.
well he made the wrong descision to pepper spray her and then tell her not to put her in the house cause it stinks, what did he want her to do put her back in the kennel so she can get out again doesnt make a whole lot of since
Did the police officer have the womens cell phone #? I agree Pepper spray is non-lethal, with no long lasting effects. The dog was not contained. We are responsible to keep our animals contained, and also safe. The officer right or wrong is not the point. We have to look at what we can control, stop blaming and take responsability. I am sorry but this is probably the most common type of additude that has gotten things rolling like BSL, and manadatory spay and nueter laws. I am hard pressed to believe that all the bad pubilicty is attcks by the media or the negelgence of gang bangers. it's everyday dog owners not taking accountability or responsability....and again we have one side of the story.
I believe a dog's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment he holds dear, is when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-with a ball in his mouth."
i bet if it would have happened to u you would feel different, and yes he did call her home phone num and left a messeage telling her to pick up the phone but she was not their, now he pushed it and went to knock at her door, where the dog was and yes she was contained in a 6 ft by 12 kennel chain link. she has never climbed out of the kennel before dont know what happened to make her wanna get out. and no she was not in heat
SHE HAS THE BEWARE OF DOG SIGNS CAUSE OF MY HER INSURANCE REASONS NOT BECAUSE OF ANYTHING ELSE LIKE I SAID BEFORE HER 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER PLAYS WITH HER ALL THE TIME SO I WOULDN'T SAY THIS DOG IS MEAN JUST CAUSE SHE HAS BEWARE OF DOG SIGNS THAT WAS FUNNY
HER INSURANSE TOLD HER NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF DOG U HAVE YOU NEED TO PUT UP BEWARE OF DOG SIGNS HECK WE USE TO HAVE A TACO BELL DOG AND HE BIT HER HUSBANDS FRIENDS ANGLE SO IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE A PIT BULL OR WHATEVER, HE TOLD HER TO PUT THE SIGN UP.
The thing with those signs is there are money hungry people out there who will target house with those signs. They will aggitate the dog until he bites and when it does..They will throw that sign up that you knew your dog would do that because of the signs you have outside.
But thats neither here nor there I would like to know what your dog was doing right before he/she got sprayed.
I know in our state, it is a catch 22 with the signs. On one hand they are supposed to be posted to alert people of a dog on the property, though legally they can be used against you if an incident with your dog occurs. In the courts, a beware of dog sign admits to an aggressive dog, so if it ever went to court, well they would use it against you.
A no trespassing sign doesnt imply to a police officer. The officer, also has no duty to locate phone numbers for people to call them when they are right there at the house. He was responding to a dog at large report, so he was at the scene. They do come to the door to get in contact with you, not get a phone book and look up your number. If the dog was acting aggresive and not allowing him acces to the door, then he did what he should have done, unfortunately. Its a good thing though that the dog was ONLY pepper sprayed and not worse.
I do understand the dog was only protecting his property, but that doesnt change the fact. Hopefully the top being put on the pen will work and you wont have to go through this again. An unfortunate incident, and I feel bad for the dog, but it wasnt the fault of the officer IMO.
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
all the dog was doing was standing on her front pouch by the front door and right before the police went to the door he called her house phone but she was not home he than left a message on her phone to pick up the phone, she was not home at the time so he than procedded to come to her door to knock on it where her dog was and she would not let him near her door thats when her pepper sprayed her, now hes telling her he will drop the charges if she will let him know where a friend of hers is, cause i guess they are looking for him, cause he didnt pay a fine so they put a warrant out for him and they think my daughter knows where he is. the officer told me he was gonna shoot the dog when he called me at my house.
The dog was blocking him from doing what needed to be done. He needed to knock on the door. And like I said you are lucky all that happened was the dog was sprayed. And for some reason I doubt the dog was sitting calmly.
