I have heard stuff about that too except it was directed more towards things that are made of fresh fruits and vegi's such as jam,s, jellies, ketchup, tomato sauce and those sorts of things. There are always going to be at least a tiny amount of tiny bugs that are on them through processing that could perhaps make it into our jelly. They are probably more than likley fruit flies which half of a fruit fly wing isnt going to cause that much trouble. I have eaten worse.
True..I read about how there's parts of insects in chocolate bars, it was from one of those "Did you know.." type sites of different facts. Don't know if it's totally true of course, but if it is...excuse me while I hurl...
Ask a question and you're a fool for three minutes; do not ask a question and you're a fool for the rest of your life.
I cant rember were I saw that. Ill look for it and if I find anything ill post links for you guys. if you knew about brocoli you probly wouldnt eat it. My mother in laws sister worked in some frozen brocoli place and told all kinds of dont eat it storys.
they cant help it, there are bugs all over the place and a lot of bugs are attracted to food. Ants, roaches, mics, flys, ect are all attracted to food and are found in just about any place that makes food. So instead of letting it go or putting a million places out of business they set certan guild lines for what can be in food. that way is clean you wont die and they dont ahve to shut anyone down.
how many of you have had bugs and/or mice in your kitchen no matter how clean you keep it? It cant be helped bugs come in and go to food.
On my hot dogs i like mustard, cheese, and tomatos.
I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame I'd even cut my hair and change my name
Pinkygirl, hot dogs are made of trim from other cuts of meat. When the meat is cut in the meat packing plant, the trim is sorted into different grades, one has meat in it, the next is mostly fat and gristle, and the third is pure fat. The reason hotdog ingredients have to be ground first, before they're mixed with a filler, spices etc, is to make them more palatable. Let's face it, if the plant could sell that trim as anything else they would, because it would be worth more. Don't get me wrong though, I love them too, I just don't like the nitrates they use in them. Also, if you think about it, why would one part of the animal be less edible than another? (unless it tastes disgusting, I happen to despise the taste of tripe). It all comes from an animal, and it's all meat, right?
While never being an overly BIG fan of the hot dog, I pretty much gave up on them after a conversation with my uncle. He worked for Xerox, repairing the big machines.
When he told me that if he ate hot dogs for lunch, then made a call on the nuclear power plant for repairs to their machines, the nitrates in the hot dog would set off alarms, I thought, ummm maybe this is a food source I need to reconsider.
Bottom line is that there's something in there that sets off alarms at the power plant, I'm thinking it's something I'll take a pass on when the plate comes my way~
