I recently (a month ago) adopted a new puppy - an Australian Shepherd mix (female) named Bella. Cricket (female), my poodle/maltese mix (4 years old) is still having difficulty adjusting to the new addition. Cricket has a tendency to growl whenever Bella gets too near her, though occassionally she does allow Bella to sniff her and 'nibble' on her and they do play together. But Bella, being a puppy wants to play most of the time and whenever she tries with Cricket, the growls, snarls and occassional snaps come out. Cricket is also stealing every toy that Bella plays with as soon as Bella drops it. Cricket then takes it to 'her' chair and growls/snaps at Bella anytime Bella tries to get it back. And let's not even discuss treats! I was going to enroll Bella into the puppy course at Petsmart and reenroll Cricket in training to help fix some of these issues, but after talking to the trainer I don't think I will (I did not like the trainer and do not think I would be happy in her class). I am also concerned about walking them. Is it okay to walk them seperately or am I sending the wrong message? It's just that I want to run with Bella and that is not possible with Cricket.
