Ok so i'm gettin my husky next week and i'm so excited. he's a 100% husky both his dad and mom are the brownish redish color and white. and so are his 7 brothers and sis (5 bros 2 sis). he is black and white and is the runt... when i first saw this dog i knew he was mine. the others were pushin him to the back and he was climbin over them and pushin through standing on them whatever he had to do to give me kisses. he's about six months old. i was thinking about callin him Boston but i wanted some other suggestions...any ideas???
I don't know...he just seems like he has the boston type personality. like he's all hard and nothing can touch him...the owner said he was gonna keep him at one point and name him that and outta all of the names that's the only one that sounds good...but i'm also bad at picky names so i was tryin to get some suggestions
Ours are Everest, Yukon, & Sierra. Others I've thought of: Wynter, Journey, Quest, Denali, Summit (what we're gonna name our next male!), North, Aspen, Sienna, Samara.... the list goes on & on. I love thinking of Husky names!
Maybe other Husky people can correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't R&W Huskies Homozygous? Meaning when you breed a R&W male to a R&W female, the only possible outcome genetically is a full litter of R&Ws. If his mom & dad are both R&W it would be pretty much impossible to have a B&W pup. I have been doing extensive research into Siberian genetics since we may breed in a few years.
I would be cautious as to whether this breeder is lying to you or not. I don't mean to rain on your parade or anything, but it is impossible to get a B&W from both R&W parents. I would definitly ask more questions. Sibes sell fast, so the only reasons for him to be 6mos old is if there is something wrong, or they were thinking of keeping him for a show/sled prospect.
huskyseehuskydo, you are absolutly correct. I guess I missed that part in there, and when I re-read it; it is impossible to get a black and white out of a red and white male and female.
I breed huskies and they do sell fast. I have never had to keep any of my pups over 10 weeks, they have all sold within the first month after they were born if they were not sold prior to breeding.
I would look into it too. Seeing it is 6 months old. If you mistyped and meant 6 weeks old I would also be very weary. i don't let any of my pups go before they are 10 weeks. They learn a lot from their littermates between 8-10 weeks of age.
