I have a 11 week old Aussie terrier puppy. I have had her 3 weeks. I take her out about every 30 minutes when I'm home. She will pee outside and sometimes poop -- then come back in the house and do it again. At night, I get up with her during the night & she still potty's in her crate. I have to leave her for about 4 hours while I work. Of course we go outside right before I leave...still poop and pee when I get home!! Any ideals..
My 11 week Aussie terrier poop's & pee's in her crate even if you just have taken her out, any ideals?
Keep doing what you are doing....puppies don't get potty trained in just a few days or weeks. As they get older, they will have more control.
When you pup does go outside what do you do? Do you give a small treat? Do you praise the dog like crazy? You need to reward for good things and don't punish for having accidents. You're dog should gradually get better.
If you are doing the outside potty training, don't switch to potty pads...that will only confuse the dog and make it more difficult to get her fully trained. Good Luck.
I trained my dog in about 2 days using these easy and simple steps: 1. Wait a few minutes after your dog eats. 2. Take it outside to play or on a nice long walk. 3. Once it goes, praise it like crazy, pet it, give it treats, anything you could imagine your pup would love you to do. 4. Keep this up. After a few days you'll have a trained puppy.
And that's how I trained Blizzard in about 2-3 days. Though she was trained in the winter so when the snow melted she had no clue what to do so I had to do everything all over again to show the grass was ok and she doesn't only have to go on the snow.
Now, the pup'll still have accidents during the day when you're gone at at night while you sleep but evebtually it'll get a stronger/ bigger bladder so can last while you're gone and will eventually learn to wake you up if it has to go at night or will wait till the morning. Good luck.
