I recently adopted a feral kitten(Buddy) from a shelter when he was 4 months and i have had him for 5 months and he is scared to death if you try to hold him, he will let you pat him til the cows come home but he is severly scared when you pick him up...any clues on how to reverse this dilemma?? Thanx in advance!
I wouldn't worry about it. Just accept her as she is. Some cats aren't, and will never be cuddlers. We have a formerly feral cat in the house. We brought her in at about 8 months of age. She is now about 3 years old, and we still can't pick her up. If one of us is sitting down, she'll jump up and let us hold her. But we can't just walk up to her and pick her up (at least, not for longer than 30 seconds!) We have another feral outside that is the same way. Very skittish around us. She'll walk up to one of us if we stand very still, and she'll rub up against our legs and let us pet her with one hand. But if you reach a 2nd hand toward her-she runs. But that's ok. We just accept her for who she is, and we're happy that we can even touch her that much.
