It happened just 2 days ago when I let my 9 years old German Shepherd out in the yard to do his business. He struggled to get up but failed. We have been noticing his hind legs were getting weaker and weaker. The most obvious time was last year when we took him to the dog beach. He could barely walk on the wet sand. Just 2 years ago, when we took him to the same place, he was having the best time of him life running around with other dogs on the beach for 2 hours. I've did some study online and found out that most German Shepherd will suffer some kind of degenerative disease that will lead to loss of use of the back legs. Can anyone share their experience with me? What should I do? Shall I get him a wheelchair? My dog weighs about 100 lbs and I checked the prices for the wheelchair for large dogs. They are very expensive and cost about $500. I can't afford that kind of money. Does anyone know where I can get a less expensive canine cart or a used one? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
Have a vet diagnose him. I'd say arthritis is involved here. What about doing payments, if wanting to buy a doggie wheelchair. I am sure somebody will let you do the payment method. That is not so shocking as $500 straight out of pocket. Start your dog on glucosamine-chondroitant with msm added. It takes a week to 2 weeks to see a differance. Missing link is a good one to go with. Also try not to overfeed, as extra weight makes it harder on the joints. Your dog is a senior.
Whoever said you can't buy happiness, must have never owned a dog!!!!!!!!!!!
is the dog on something now for her condition? what has the vet said? probably hip displasia & arthritis.
the combo mentioned is a much better choice than rimadyl or the dog equivalant IMO & available in the drug section at WM or any drug store. here is the info. she really should have been on it since you started seeing symptoms.
