I am a new member and am hoping you can give me some advise. I have a 8 month old cardigan welsh corgi and ever since I got him neutered it seems like he is having more accidents in the house. Is this normal? Is it true that males are harder to potty train than females? I have taken to obedience training and he is well behaved and so smart...I can't figure out what to do about this though. Thanks in advance for your help.
It could be a bladder infection. I would first rule out a medical reason for the accidents before I would assume it's behavioral. I have never found males to be more difficult to house break than females. Was this dog housebroken before surgery?
Before the surgery he was not entirely potty trained. Almost though. It just seems like since then, he has more accidents. I am trying to train him to nudge a bell hanging from the door when he needs to go out and am pretty good about taking him out every hour or so. I do have water bowls outside as well as living on a lake...He loves going down to the water to play...and drinks a lot from the lake. I will go have his urine tested for an infection. Glad you all think its not a male dog issue. I have only had females and they were so easy to train.
