I just got a another Beagle (male 2 years old ) The owners had to move and they left him, So the landlord asked if i wanted him. Well hes all eat up on one ear with ant bites. I got some Medicated Itch Stick. I just wanted to see what any of you use. Thanks
agree on antibiotics. Depending on how bad the bites are and what the ear looks like you may indeed need something stronger for the bites along with an antibiotic. Maybe you can call your vet just to see what they say 1st then take the pooch in if necessary.
if hes not better by monday thats were im going. but to describe it on the inside part of ear he has red bumps all over and yo can tell it has some sweeling ond can feel heat from it. he some other raw spots on him put mot as bad as this. but yes he will see a vet Monday.
though I am not a vet to be honest it sounds as if you are describing what is the beginning of an infection. Heat is one of the indicators. I would not wait until Monday. See if you can get in now. My suggestion. You truly do not want to wait and let it get worse.
This does not sound like ant bites. Ant bites (at least fire ant bites) tend to form tiny puss pockets. They almost resemble inflamed acne. The fact that these bites are in the ear also make me think they may not be ant bites. Ant bites are more likely to occur around the dogs belly and/or feet. If the area around them has gotten red you need to take the dog to the vet even if it is just ant bites. Dogs can develop allergic reactions to the bites just like humans can. They can also scratch the bites that then get infected and need antibiotics.
