So Dooney has recently started jumping. Especially on kids! And she knocks them over. She loves them. She thinks they are her size so "yay! Fun" I have gotten lucky that no parents have gotten angry but it is only a matter of time before I get in trouble. I walk her on a leash but it is at the dog park that she does this. Also yesterday she jumped onto a man eating a sandwhich and stole his sandwhich. Why he was eating it at the dog park is beyond me!!! How do I get her to stop!
Also, since she is already in obedience classes, take some of the things you learned and apply them for this. Make her sit and stay at your side when people are approaching. Give her a treat and praise her when she is behaving. Don't let people fawn over her when she is being naughty. That will just reinforce the behavior. When I take Faeden out, he must always sit and stay at my side if he wants people to pet him. I HIGHLY recommend the gentle leader. It was like walking a totally different dog when we started using that.
If your dog is not fully under control off lead she should not be off lead in public at all. Try using a long line start out with a 15ft lead when the dog is ok on that go to a 30 than 50 than 100ft. You need to be in control
Personally I totally despise off lead dog parks; they are an accident just waiting to happen. There are too mnay untrained dogs and inexperienced handlers all in one place. That is just not a good thing IMO.
