Hello. I have a bit of a problem. About a year ago my mother's boyfriend moved in and he has an 11 year old male Chihuahua that he rescued when the dog was about 1 year old. About that time my male Rottweiler was about 6 months old. Since then the two dogs have had marking wars back and forth. I have looked up a lot of info on why they do this, but I don't know how to prevent it. Everything says to neuter an un-altered male, which is fine, I totally agree, but I show him in conformation shows, so he has to be intact. And since the Chihuahua was neutered at an later age, marking had already became a habit, thus, a problem. At my old house, we kept the two males seperated, not cause they don't get along, cause they do. But I was in my room they were in there's. I think in doing this, we kind of created two different packs. Me, my male, and 3 other dogs being one pack, and my mom, her boyfriend and the Chihuahua being another. Well, the males marked everything in the house. Everything. Except my room where the chihuahua wasn't allowed. All the dogs stay in a wire kennel durring the day in the same room and somehow my Rottie managed to pee all over the wall that the kennel was agianst. So now, we have moved into my mom's boyfriend's house, which the Chihuahua has previously lived..... mistake I know. My male rottie has already marked the doorway to my room... Any suggestions or knowledge? Neutering isn't an option.. and I would like to find another route than the pants. I just know he would throw himself agianst the walls with those on. And he is way to big to do that. I don't know if we should keep the two boys totally away from each other... not even crateing them in the same room... Any suggestions..ideas...anything would help. Thank you.
