I just took Lacy (yorkie) to the dog park. It's been a while since we've been there. She normally gets along really well with most dogs. It's pretty hot today so the dogs weren't being too active, including Lacy who mostly just stayed close to me in the shade. Occasionally she would run after the other dogs and bark some but then come right back to me. After about 40 minutes a Siberian Husky came in. When the husky walked up to Lacy, Lacy started growling so I picked her up and Lacy just went crazy growling and barking. This has happened everytime she's been around a husky...so that I can remember anyway. I just don't understand what it is about Siberian Huskys that she hates so much. Are any of your dogs breedist against another breed???
Hm, thats interesting, but my dogs don't really hate breeds I don't think..then again...they haven't met that many either..Besides at shows..but they act fine there, given they don't see every breed imaginable while their there..That is interesting though..
My little angel is a racist pig! He only likes other dogs that are light in color (like himself), and he does not seem to care for larger dogs. We ran into a little cream colored Shih Tzu at the beach once, and he was in love with her.
Now my roommate has a black giant schnauzer...they merely tolerate each other. He'll have to get over his size issue, as I plan to get another mastiff.
lol heatherfeather!! i've noticed that my dogs have a problem with dogs significantly smaller than they are. i think smaller dogs feel the need to assert themselves because they lack the size to be overbearing?

Personally, I don't like off lead dog parks. Too many inexperienced handlers, dogs who may not be vaccinated ot cared for properly, too many dogs with a variety of personalities some with little to no training at all and all running loose.
The whole thing is just a disaster waiting to happen IMO
I am overly protective when it comes to things like this. Mine have supervised play group and go to onlead events and also training classes for their socialization
I am not trusting of dogs or owners that I do not know
