Can anyone tell me why so many people have English Bulldogs outside? I have two and I thought they were not suppose to be exposed to heat for long periods at a time. I know of a few people here that have what looks like English Bulldogs outside in kennels. They may be Olde English,I haven't stopped to ask. I have also seen them on breeder adds in outside lots or kennels.
Really an English Bulldog is just "Bulldog"...I heard a judge at an AKC show once remark that he doesn't know why people started saying "English" Bulldog. Maybe because there is a French Bulldog or that the bulldog originated in England? So since there is no "English" bulldog, there is certainly no Old English Bulldog
I hate to see people leave their dogs outside all the time period. I think dogs should only be outside supervised and for a certain period of time a day (depending on the dog and the weather). I hate that people keep dogs outside 24/7. Poor dogs... especially in this heat!
I was calling my dogs by the breed they are registered by, the national kennel club. I know that there are breeders that have bred a bigger bulldog that can stand the heat better and have fewer breathing problems and they are olde english bulldogs.
They are a Brachycephalic breed and do not fair well in the heat. I have frenchies and they are inside dogs only. Any of the flat face dogs can overheat very easily and should be kept indoors, especially on hot days.

If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
Thanks,Dusty I thought they were different. I did research before I bought my dogs and I know they can't be outside very long in the heat.I have just seen alot in the background of puppy adds and they are in lots.
I remember as a child watching my mother keep the dogs outside for a long period of time except for the winter. They would bark for a long period of time. She kept them outside because she wanted the house to stay clean. I remember feeling bad for the doggies now I keep them right inside with me.
