Rescues a Saint Bernard off the side of the road on my way to work this morning. She was in my lane of the road, and trying to "say hi" to the people driving by. I honked the horn hoping she'd just run off or something, at least get out of the road, but she just turned towards me and started walking. So I pull over and roll down my window, she sticks her head in! and I luckily had a slip on leash in the back seat that I looped over her head.
Got out, had a collar but no tags. Looked cared for, coat was shaved down and all. Waited there for a bit in case someone was out looking for her, but no one showed up. Had to take her to the shelter and told them to call me if no one came forward to claim her.
She was suuuch an awesome dog. Perfectly walking on leash, lovable, just wanted to be hugged and loved on. The entire ride to the shelter she either had her head out the window, resting on my armrest with my arm draped over her, or her head on my shoulder licking and sniffing me.
Trying to talk mom into letting me get her if no one claims her. Her aunt or grandmother used to have some years and years ago that she loved. So semi what trying to read some stuff online about them in case it happens. If not.. maybe on down the road would like one.
I'd put some signs up in the area you found her and a few miles all around it. Just put you found an extra large dog or something of the sort, if someone calls ask THEM what breed their dog is. You don't want her falling into the wrong hands.
Hope you find her home! If not, go adopt her and call up a st bernard rescue or something.

oh my gosh she's adorable. Where are you? Ill pm you. I'd be interested in her and would rescue her. Spay her and give her a great home... She just melted me and I'm in the cold climate.
Merico, I just pmed you. I'm serious. I would take her in a heart beat and I can have her shipped to me. Please answer your PM and get back to me. I'm sitting here staring at her. I'm in the cold, northern climate so it's great for her too. Certainly we would wait and see if her owners found her but......
My gf had a saint bernard she put down this past yr. He was awesome and loveable, but at age 5, his hips got really bad, he was in pain and not trustworthy with kids.
I attribute all that to the pain he was in with his hips, as my gfs grandson had leukemia and he was gentle as could be with that baby, as if HE knew. Anthony wanted to name him after his Fav cereal, Apple Jacks, so she shortened it to AJ. Anthony died after 6 mos of aggressive treatment, at the age of 2 and that dog missed him so much.
I was in awe of how intuitive he was with that child.
Anyhoo, Mere, she is a beaut! I dont think she is shaved down, but a short haired variety...(all the better, AJ was shaved in the summer as it is hot in Ohio summers)
He did get bloat and I dont think he ever recovered fully from that before his hips went, he had a hard time eating prior and vomited alot after meals. He never really ate much. My gf got him from someone selling the pups for 150.00 and who knows what kind of breeding he had.
That is not how I remember Aj, I remember him laying there with the baby always snuggled into him.
I love their loyalty, cant deal with the drool....

PLEASE PLEASE let me know. I sincerely would like to adopt this puppy if the owners do not find her. I showed her to my husband, he said ABSOLUTELY "bring her home if you want". Again, I hope her owners have found her and this was nothing more then a puppy getting out, but if she is not found by the owners and is going to be put up for adoption, I really would like her. I can call the shelter too if you pm me with the phone number and start the process or at least find out what's going on. My vet would also be happy to give them a call and see if he can do anything if her owners have not found her. Thanks so much!!!
no clue, working on it, staying on top of it. I have phone numbers for the state she is in trying to find out which of the non kill shelters she's at. Hopefully by now her mommy and or daddy found her but I'm going to make phone calls after 11 am to see if I cant track her down and just get an up date. Also, OP of the thread who actually rescued her from the street has PM'd me and is helping to stay on top. Another user here has GRACIOUSLY offered to help with some transportation IF this actually comes to fruition.
I am so pleased to tell you guys, after hours of trying to track down the shelter our nice OP took this precious pup to, I finally found it. The puppy was indeed lost and claimed the same day by her mommy and daddy.
Talk about a relief.
Thank you everyone who offered to assist me IF this puppy needed a rescue. Mostly, thank you OP for taking her off the street.
