Thank you all for your responses, especially pope1982, for your thought provoking and insightful post. Seriously though, I just wanted to mention that in no way do I condone BYBing, I'm against calling "designer dogs" by those stupid names people are labelling them with and had I realized that I was buying a "designer dog" at the time, I probably would have left without the puppy. I guess I did get lucky finding a BYB that appeared to really care for the puppies - but I would never use my experience to promote buying a BYB pup. I also believe that there are too many unhomed animals in the world, and yes, unresponsible breeders only just add to that problem. I hope to be able to add some honest, educated discussion to these forums in the future. All be well,
Honey lamb, I love, love, love purebreds and now I have living with me a terrier of unknown origin that I picked up in a park, a shepherd mix with a curly tail and a purebred poodle puppy without papers that I adopted from a rescue organization.
From what I read, you wanted a companion animal and you marched out and got one. Good for you. You have a relationship with the breeder. Good.
God obviously intended for you to have this puppy. Enjoy.
