Hello! I was at PetCo last week, and someone dumped this puppy off there. He was covered in feces and fleas and severely dehydrated and malnourished. It was sunday, and none of the animal shelters were opened, so I decided I would take him home and feed him and give him a place to sleep. Needless to say, I fell in love with him, and can't get rid of him, so I am going to keep him. I took him to the vet, and he's 2.4 lbs. The people at PetCo told me the guy who dropped him off said he was 6 weeks old. Does anyone have any idea what kind of dog he could be? Thanks for the help!! http://pets.webshots.com/photo/2206607820101452795EtIjsA (after his first bath)
Thanks for all the suggestions! The day I found him, I called a golden retriever rescue group here (bc I wasnt sure about keeping him) and they told me they couldnt take him b/c he didnt look like a golden. Whatever he is, he is surely a sweetie :)
He really is sweet! He has an incredible personality! He is really frightened when someone else tries to take him from us, though. I guess he has been passed around quite a bit over the past few weeks before we got him.
No, I called a golden retriever rescue group, sent them pictures of him (probably the same I posted above) and they said they don't think he's a golden, so they couldnt take him. At the time it was disappointing b/c they said almost all the shelters around here a full, but now I believe it was a blessing- he's a doll and such a wonderful puppy!!

Thats why i said pom Savannah. From the pics, he looks like a small breed. Whatever he is, he is so adorable. It makes me sick that anyone could just dump him off. Glad to see that he has found a good home.
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
The first vet we took him to (to make sure he'd make it through the night) said he thought he was some mix of a retriever, although he wasnt certain b/c he's so young. The second vet, the vet we took him to to get his shots (about a week after we found him), said he thinks maybe a pom mix. So everyone on here is saying what the vets said. ...I wanted other opinions since the 2 vets said different things. My boyfriend lives in an apartment with a 30 lb weight limit on dogs, and he obviously doesnt have a yard. We didnt think it would be fair for him to be caged up in an apartment with no yard if he's going to be a large dog. I guess it's a mystery for now.
...oh yeah, and to answer your question, we named him "Joey".
