Hello, I am new here so here it goes. I have a 5 mo old Dachshound and she is sweet as can be, happy, loving, and so on, potty training has been slow but we are getting there. HOWEVER after a visit out side with the other 2 we have, ( and we see her do her business) she will come inside, play, run all that good stuff, then I get on the floor to play with her and see PEES all over me, the floor, ect. We get a lot of company and she is so happy to see them that she goes potty all over the floor. Can anyone out there tell me what the heck is up with this. I love the love, not the water works.
Sometimes dogs will dribble whenever they get really excited or out of submission. Whenever we would start horsing around with our German Shep. she would invariably leave a stream. When a new visitor to our home played similarily with our Beagle - an unpleasant surprise shot up at them. A friend's spaniel will piddle whenever she is greeted by visitors to their home. Their solution was to hold their dog in their arms and they asked visitors to just ignore her. After the initial excitement of the new guests died down, they put her on the floor and just continued to ignore her - no piddles. Now they can skip the holding part and just ask that you ignore the dog for a while or they just leash her and bring her outside to greet guests (where we pat her and talk to her) and let her dribble away on the driveway, then she's fine in the house. With our dog, we just toned down the play so she didn't get so ever exited/stimulated. One thing, it's always good to double check with a vet to make sure there is no urinary tract infection going on nor any type of incontinance problem.
