ok I thought I wanted a lovebird, but then I did some thinking and later on my son is gonna want to interact with the bird, and I heard lovies can be one person birds. and I have wanted a tiel for about 4 years now, and I know the are very cuddly birds, whole family birds. so I am thinking about geting a tiel, but I need some information on them first. stuff like cage size, temperments, loudness, ect.,ect. thank you very much
Um you might be wondering why no one is answering you, and I can tell you that these topics are about dogs, if you were to look at the top of the discussion forum, it says general dog topics. (I luv birds though so yea, I have two!!)
yes but the site is called teriffic pets and they dont have a bord for birds. I have asked questions about birds before. I belonge to bird forums also, but I thought maby someone would have something to add . ok then
I just thought I would throw in my experience here, we just gave away our two cockatiels, Levi and Khaki because we did not have nearly enough time for them. They need so much attention and need tons of interaction to be happy. My birds got out at least once a day but always wanted more. I felt so guilty because they needed way more attention then I could give them and I am a full time mom. But between my dogs and cats and hamsters and kids and cleaning the house and running errands and working at the shelter and trying to find my fiancee' somehwere inbetween, they just did not get enough attention. I would suggest really thinking about getting birds before you get them, we thought we had done enough research but we were way wrong. We would still love to get birds again but not until the kids are older and we have more time. Also, if you do decide to get some birds, you cannot use Teflon around them, the fumes that come from cooking with Teflon around birds can kill them. We found that out right after we got our birds from a friend of ours who raises birds and told us about that. So, just remember to keep that in mind! Good Luck with whatever you decide!
We had a cockatiel growing up. He was not the nicest bird but he was very smart. He could say hello, pretty bird, and his name. He was in an average size cage that sat atop my mom's kitchen bar type counter. He was kinda loud but only during the day.
My boyfriend and I have a cockatiel, and they are one-person birds. Meeko loves my boyfriend and plays and sings to him, but if I go anywhere near his cage, I will be hissed at and he does not like me at all. We both raised him. He just connected to my boyfriend and not me.
I dont work, I never leave my apartment, and the only pet I have here are some fish. (Ihave a yorkie but he has to stay with my mom and sister becuse I live in a no cat or dog building) I do have an 11 month old son though. but my mom and my sister come over every day and help me with him. so I have alot of free time. thanks for the info keep it coming
