I just recently purchased a house that has been closed up for about a year, I've been deep cleaning the place.. getting ready to move in. So far I have seen 2 brown recluse spiders that had HUGE leg spans. I would estimate at least 2 inches. So, now, I'm scared.. not only for me, but for my dogs. Does anybody know anything about these things.. how much it might cost to exterminate the place.. home remedies, anything?
There are traps for the little buggers. I would go through the whole house with a vacuum, and then set traps, after spraying the crap out of the house. ( Assuming you're not moved in yet) Then see what the ones are that you've trapped.
Got'ta love those wolf spiders. Jumpy little booggers.
Are you sure they are Brown recluse? Do you have pecan trees in your yard? They love pecan trees. (at least here in Texas) Most Brown reluse will disapear once you move in. They prefer secluded dark recesses. I would have an exterminator spray your home.
Life isn't like a box of chocolates . . it's more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today, might burn your rump tomorrow
I would definately call an exterminator. They do not like light, however, they are hard to get rid of on your own. There are places inside walls, ceilings, etc that they can hide in. They are very dangerous because many times you do not know that you have been bitten. I had a friend who thought that she had a pimple, until she couldn't get out of bed three days later when it became extremely infected. They had to have the entire apartment complex sprayed/fumigated.
