Dogs currently affected by BSL in the United States
This list is specifically named in ordinances
Of course I'm sure you all know the first three listed are affected by BSL in many places. Some of the other breeds listed may surprise you. BSL can be an issue for pretty much any breed and spreads like wildfire if left unopposed
I did not see the new breed of "pocket pits" on the restricted list! ;)
I guess all of us who breed large dogs should get out our ray guns and shrink all our dogs down to little ankle biters, LOL.
Seriously this whols breed banning needs to stop and focus placed on the people who are irresponsible owners and breeders of the dogs causing all the problems that lead to the fear and problems. This is sad :(
I dont understand?? what does this list mean? I did read (skim threw) what ive gathered is if you move to a new house or something you have to check your local oridence to see if your allowed that breed of dog?? And if its on the list then you cant own that breed of dog in that area? To me this doesnt sound right? my neighbors have a newfie , not for me of coarse, lol but Bear seems friendly enough. Ya how did they come up with these lists of dogs> said something about tv and newspapers and media ect. so everytime something bad is posted about a breed it goes on the list??? how can anyone tell you what kind of dog you can and cant own?? This i dont get??
Dogs currently with BSL in Canada (by Province): British Columbia: Pit bulls Alberta:Pit bulls Saskatchewan: N/A Manitoba: Pit bulls Ontario: All "bully" breeds Quebec: Pit bulls, Rottweilers and "Mastiffs" New Brunswick: N/A Nova Scotia: Pit bulls and Rottweilers Prince Edward Island: N/A Newfoundland: N/A Northwest Territories: N/A Nunavut: N/A Yukon: N/A Although some of our provinces/territories don't have BSL, they ALL have a vicious/fierce/dangerous dog bylaw (by township) in affect
Wow, they even have Labrador Retrievers on there! Aren't Labs the most popular breed in the U.S.? Aren't they known to be well loved family dogs? That list is absolutely ludicrous! And yes, both of the puppies we currently own are on the list, the Doberman Pinscher and the Labrador Retriever.

Yes, the Labrador Retriever is by far the over all number one dog for families, children. Granted I am biased, I will always admit that, but I'm taking statistical information and relaying, not just opinion. DOES NOT mean there are not amazing other breeds, I love them all, just answering your question.
In my life time experience with labs, NOTE MY LIFE TIME EXPERIENCE, the only time I have heard of a Lab actually being aggressive is when it was trained for protection or mixed with another breed.. HOWEVER LET ME STATE FOR THE RECORD I do believe in my heart and soul it's not the dog or breed, it's ownership plain and simple and this is every single solitary breed of dog!!! So don't jump on me folks LOL
Maybe people should just start moving out of the BSL areas, then the politicians can all sit around and try and figure out how to re-populate their towns.North Fairfield and Little Rock would see a nice drop in their local economy pretty damn quick.
