First, I've worked for a humane society for 10yrs-vet assistant-I now help with 2 rescue orgs.
Second, in fostering, we came across 'Georgie and Sunshine'(all have been adopted-we kept Georgie)-2 adorable/loveable babies(despite their conditions). They were 8 wks at the time-when we found out they were blind--but as they are aging, we've noticed 'not the normal puppy behaviors'-now we've found out they have neurological issues too. Georgie can't walk on hardwoods-looking for some good booties or socks??(tried PawProtectors-not good)-housebreaking: we're resorting to the belly bands-stairs(no way): needs to be carried, getting way too big for that/figuring we need to put in a ramp-he spends most of his time in the 'rural' outdoors(huge fenced in area w/trees/doggie pool/toys) due to these issues(among a few others)..We have other dogs and all are indoors. He tends to 'run over' them and that's another issue-he only wants to be near them and play-but he gets a little too rough--then the others growl/snap at him to go away :( We only want what is best for this sweet baby and we are definitely trying to give him that..
Any advice or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I know my response may not be the popular one but sometimes the quality of life needs to be considered. These are always horrible decisions. I dont know your circumstances, I dont know what you all are going through, but having the problems you already do are going to get worse. Neurological progression is terrible as you certainly know based on your experience. Perhaps you need to think about the quality of life the pup has, or will not have as the case may be. I dont know.

I go back to that, something I personally wrote last year, after making an agonizing decision on a puppy I passionately loved.

Thank you, Savannah for your honesty.. That has crossed my mind also. For now I'm resorting to any suggestions/advice first-along with 'this is all we can do'---before that last possible alternative.. He is a doll and as I said, we want to try/do all that we can for this puppy who only wants to be loved-he gives plenty of kisses and wags back too..but I know that quality is the most important thing and I will not be selfish..
I'm sorry for your loss-those were some beautiful emotions you 'wrote' out.

Have you seen a specialist yet. There may be a treatable cause for the neurological problem.

I'm just now seeing it's from roundworms, so you've already gotten to the cause. I am so very sorry. So there's nothing they can do?

The vet hospital adores Georgie; our vet says there is no way to know the extent of his 'trauma'- we can only 'take it one day at a time'...
