Well, my paranoia has paid off! LOL! I have been noticing that the (neutered) boys have been more interested in Sierra the last week or two. I have been dilligently checking her 1-2 times a day since this has started. I'm glad! When I checked her this morning, she had started to swell just a little. No discharge yet. She is right at 5.5 months old, so a little early. I am just so glad I was paying attention!
Summit had his last puppy shots today, so when I took him in, I took Sierra too. The vet said that this could definitely be the start of her first heat, and that she is just an early bloomer. I wanted to make sure b/c this is the first female we are leaving intact. I really didn't know for sure...
We don't have any intact dogs right around us, but you never know, and I NEVER want to take the chance! Looks like we built our doggy highrise just in time! It is a chain-link kennel that is screwed to a raised wooden deck. She will be safe from any dogs that might happen along. I can't wait till we can get our building renovated and get those indoor/outdoor runs! I will feel even safer then!
i am "happy" for you (even though it can be a pain). You want to show her right? I can't remember if that is the one or not. Good thing your kennel is ready is right LOL :) the days go by so fast first there a puppy then a teen time flies...... ;)
