Did any of you LOOK at the descriptions on these books and DVDs?
Most of the DVDs on dog fighting are exposes of the practice and do not either condone or encourage it. They are reporting what happens and let the viewer decide. A good idea if you are trying to let people know what is happening.
The books are either history books, reprints of history books, fiction relating to dog fighting or exposes. One is specifically about the history of the pit bull and how it has been badly bred, badly used and is really a good dog.
These are not bad publications or DVDs. They are honest. Pit Bull fighting--either against bulls or other dogs--was completely legal for a long time. That is fact. There are people who see nothing wrong in continuing to compete in the "sport" of dog fighting today, in 2007. That is fact. I don't see anything wrong with writing about it. I should think that people on this forum would be interested in one or more of these books.
Now, about the Game Cock magazine. That they carry it is disgusting.
Obviously, some idiot that works for Amazon thought this would be a good way to make money for the company. Many people who work for Amazon probably don't even know that they carry the magazine. If we don't like it, we should TELL THEM.
I personally plan to call and e-mail them often. I am going to make a nuisance of myself. If you, too, don't like it--help me out--join me.
" The people that wrote them and the people that buy them are very disturbed."
I do not understand WHY people would buy them if they find them disturbing ? If any of the books are promoting dog fighting in any way, shape, or form, wouldnt you NOT want to add one red cent to their cash flow ?
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
jgermansh, do you happen to know if these same disgusting books are available at Chapters? As a Canadian resident I have bought books from Amazon because they do have a wider selection and availability sometimes, but I get severely kicked square in the nether regions on postage etc. And sorry, of course I could look it up myself, I'm just wondering if you did a search of all book companies.
