At my local dog park some kind person has put a baby pool (one of those plastic wade pools for kids). Bella loves it, and has taken to jumping straight in and submerging herself in it (very cute). Unfortunately she has also taken to peeing in it. What's the etiquette here? Should I dump out the pool and refill it if she pees in it? Normally I wouldn't be too concerned, except other dogs do come up and drink from the pool and it doesn't seem right to have them drink water my dog has peed in. My brother on the otherhand doesn't think it's that big of a deal. His thoughts are dogs drink water from puddles on the ground where anything could have happened and it's not like Bella is peeing a lot. She just is either too happy in the pool and doesn't want to get out or she's trying to mark the pool as hers. What do you think?
ABSOLUTELY you should, and thats very very nice of you to think about it. All people should be as considerate as you are. Wouldn't you appreciate a nice clean pool after another doggie messed it up so your dog wasn't exposed to anything??? We all would :-)
Open dog parks stay open as long as we all keep it clean, have respect for each other and the dogs and follow the rules. Part of that is showing the courtesy you are right now. WTG!!
I would appreciate it if someone did that for me, if it's just a baby pool it's not too hard to do. No, I would definitely empty it, it's just common courtesy, I think. You could also look at it another way. What if more than just Bella like to pee in that pool? The dogs are playing and drinking in a rather unhealthy mixture then right?
