Our 10 week old rott/lab mix has recently had small circle like lesions/rash on his abdomen, we applied benadryl ointment and the generalized rash seemed to go away. Now there are circle lesions in the crease areas, more specifically where his hind legs meet his body and where his front legs meet his body. There is one dime-sized lesion and the rest are about the size of a pencil eraser. There are probably 10 over all. His affect is slightly depressed as well. This has been going on for two days. He seems to be eating and drinking fine, no loose stool or vomiting. He is not scratching the lesions. He also has some possible conjunctivitis in his eyes. Yesterday they were very red and swollen but no drainage. Today they are less red with scant clear drainage. Is this allergies? We changed food type but not food brand. Our other dog, chihuahua, has no symptoms. Our puppy also had parvo virus at 8 weeks of age for which he was hospitalized and received home antibiotic therapy for 10 days. Any suggestions? Keep using Benedryl? Could he be allergic to Grass? Fleas???
FYI: If you have a baby/toddler, be sure you watch them closely for hairloss or those same red rings (if it is ringworm - which it sounds like). If you see them call your pediatrition and let them know, ASAP. In fact you might just want to call them and inform them that you had an animal with ringworm that came in contact with the child even if he doesn't show signs. In most cases it simple to treat if a human gets it (they even have over the counter meds) but every so often there are problems.
Yes sounds like ringworm. My 12 year old daughter has ringworm right now in 3 differnt places on her body. And this is the second time this year for her to get ringworm. We have no idea how shes getting or why. My vet told me that rabbits are very contagous and alot of them have ringworm and kids get it from holding them- never heard such a thing and i dont see any spots on Bella ( my holland lop bunny) The doctor has my daughter on basically a foot fungas cream and she is to put it on for 30 days. dont stop early or it will come back. The dogs dont have it so its werid that she keeps getting ringworm. ughhhhh She is the same daughter that had pin worms when she was 3 and again no one else in the family had it but her, we all had to take this pill just incase but still- werid isnt it that she gets ringworm often-
