Well I've been posting a lot since I joined, but I've never really introduced myself. I am a teacher who owns 2 of the cutest puppies in the world (it's verified - my 7 nieces agree with me!)
Cricket is a 4 year old Maltese Poodle mix. I dislike calling her a Maltipoo because I didn't buy her because she was one, but despite it. I bought her after looking at several shelters and not finding one that 'called to me'. Oh there were many that I wanted to take home immediately with their sad eyes, but something just didn't click when I would meet them one on one. So one day, after my cousin and I had just returned from another shelter, we saw someone selling dogs on the side of the road and my cousin convinced me to stop. They were toy poodles (or so I thought until I was informed differently -no they were Maltipoos poodle/malteze mixes), cute apricot little balls of fluff. Cricket had a white blaze on her forhead that was barely noticable. I still wasn't planning on buying one as I wanted a large dog (there are just so many that needed to be saved) but when I held Cricket for the first time she licked my nose. That was it. Imagine my surprise when I was told the price for what I thought was a mutt. I was then informed that NO they were not mutts - a little argument occured but regardless I was not leaving without Cricket. She is now my cuddler - it is not that she does it often. In fact for being a little froo-froo dog she doesn't like to spend much time on a person's lap. But when she does cuddle she does it with all her heart, lying on your chest with her little head tuck under your chin and her paw resting on your shoulder- you just can't help but love her.
Bella is my more recent adoptee (this time from a shelter). She is an Australian Shep. mix (red merle with one light blue eye and one 1/2 light blue and 1/2 light brown eye) that I had hoped would be a companion for Cricket when I was at work (unfortunately Cricket just tolerates Bella at this point). Bella is a more traditional cuddler and spends most of her time on me, next to me, under me, etc. She spends the other half waiting for Cricket to leave whatever toy/treat she has and then rushing to steal it or she just pounces on Cricket (which explains why Cricket just tolerates Bella at this point).
At some point I will be able to get Bella to sit still for a photo instead of trying to lick the camera, but Cricket is the image next to my name.
