My dog had to have a c-section during her last litter, and now she is pregnant again after only 6 months!!! We don't know what to do because we think she needs to have another c-section and this time spay her. We even think she might die. She is a Golden Retriever and I heard that Goldens usually give birth problem-free. Does anyone know what to do? Plus, she is healthy.
was this a planned breeding? i would suggest taking her into the vet now and doing the spay to prevent the unwanted puppies, possibility of death and any other problems she may have from being bred back to back.
Changed my screen name from scenicvalesiberians to weimngolden, heads up.
I COMPLETELY agree with Weim.. take her to the vet NOW and spay her and stop this pregnancy. Excellent advice!! Although there is always a risk, you certainly risk less now. AND you never spay a dog during a C section, changes milk production and may other things. That means you would have to do a 3rd surgery to spay her if you went through with this? NO WAY
I agree to take the dog to the vet but I don't agree with ending the pregnancy. It is not the puppies' fault so don't kill them for no reason! Once the puppies are born and the mom is able to get spayed, then spay her. JMHO though!
Mommy to Thelma and Louise (beagle mixes), Larry, Sam, Rescue (cats), Logan (hamster) and Charlie (Morkie). I love all my furbabies!
TNgal. not to get into an arguement here. but if she almost lost the dog from whelping complications last time, why should the dog have to go through it again this time, and possibly risk its life and the lives of the puppies. i think the best interest for the dog and the case of the puppies is to get a spay done if the dog is early enough in pregnancy.
irresponsible, and cannot figure out how to keep the dogs seperated when they are in heat obviously. maybe they just don't care enough about the dogs wellbeing to get her spayed, and save her life, or prevent putting her life at risk again.
