There is just something about these girls that wants you right there next to them once in labor. My last litter D.D. literaly tried to have the pups in my lap. LOL I would turn her bottom away from me and she would place it right back on my leg as the pup was coming out. yuck. I finally just placed towels over my legs for protection. After all how could I fight her while she was in labor. LOL
Life isn't like a box of chocolates . . it's more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today, might burn your rump tomorrow
serene, personally I hope she won't love me THAT much ! LOL! But I agree, what can you do? Dusty, thanks for the welcome..Zoe is a Bull mastiff / Pit bull mix and she is gorgeous...Can't wait for the puppies will definitely show pics !
I read she is at 57 today. You do NOT want puppies yet. Lungs are just forming. You really want her to go full term to day 60 and then whelp anywhere from 60-63 of gestation. So sit back and wait a few days. You will probably see that temp drop more around day 59/60.
Darn, I thought this recent posting was going to be an update on the puppy arrival. I put my little girl to bed. I don't think we are having puppies here until Friday. The barametric pressure is suppose to be changing that day. Usually brings on labor.
He's your friend, your partner, your defender your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to worthy of such devotion
Nothing yet! But this morning she was at 99.2 so definitely dropping! And all night she was licking and digging. We've had rain since yesterday, maybe the pressure will change today! I'm hopeful for today/tonight. She has also had ALOT of discharge and last night her belly was rock hard several times....
howdy, now you are getting closer. You are correct. "hard as rock", the pups are starting to move back and change positioning. That's why it feels the way it does. Don't take her temp too often. Maybe wait until 1 today to temp again, again this evening.
Let us know how you guys are doing of course and if you need anything.
It's not comfortable for them and it's not necessary. You want a good track, you've done a great job tracking temp. But tracking temp does not mean every 2 hours. 3/4 times a day is great. Sometimes even 5 when we get really close but that still is not as often as you think you need right now. We also always run risk of microscopic particles being left inside, so that plays into it too. :-)
Windy, Nope, unfortunately! And nothing throughout the night either. Like you, I decided to call it an early night, like the pregnant dog! My friend and I have decided that she is going to try to "hold off" and lap up all the extra attention she gets as a mommy to be! LOL! I will keep you updated...
I dont really think that 57 days is too early. My aussie always whelped at 56 days, exactly one week from her due date. All breedings were planned and watched so I was sure of the date bred. But anything beyond that is too early.
I personally am just so confused or I should say she is :) She just keeps randomly showing a sign of going into labor and then doesn't.... I mean I know she's getting ready, but darn it I can't wait!! LOL
