My kitten Kymbah still sucks on my fingers, like she would when she feeds from a mother. If I go to the toilet and leave in the lounge she calls for me until I answer. If I don't answer she panics and starts howling. Is this normal behaviour. Help
Probably your kitty feels insecure. She needs some time to adjust to a new situation and you - her new mum. I think, when she grows up a liitle, everything will be alright. Sorry for mistakes. I'm from Poland;)
My kitten Bailey sits and cries until I answer all of the time. She is only 11 weeks old though. But it's really sweet that she needs me. Allie who is 4 months old used to do it too until she realized that I am always coming back and she's much more independent now (but still cuddly). It's all normal. They all have different personalities. My old cat used to still try to nurse on my sleeve or pants leg until the day she died at 15 years old. She may have been taken from her mother too soon and she just wasn't quite ready. Your kitten is actually training you to respond to her. So try answering her but let her come find you. That's what I'm doing with Bailey because I am tired of running to her every time. She's starting to catch on and she will come find me instead. Once she knows where I am she will just play nearby.
This post makes me laugh....but only because my 2.5 year old cat STILL does this every once in a while. The sucking thing used to be on my clothes (pant strings, shirt hems, etc, etc..). She stopped that about a year ago. As far as the howling when you're not in the room....ALL of my cats have done this (I currently have 2, and an older cat that passed away about 2 years ago). At first, it was always when they were babies (up until about 8 months). Currently, Flo (my 2.5 year old) will still cry out in the night time if I've gone to bed and left her in another room. When I call to her, she'll run to wherever I am, and jump up on me and start kneading me...it's sweet, but at 3am, it can get kind of annoying! As far as I'm concerned, it's a behaviour that you don't have to worry about...it may not be normal, but it's not unheard of!
I have 3 cats, from 3 years of age to 1 year. I can't shut my bathroom door without them trying to claw their way in. Two of them have to be in there when I take a shower! She will get better but they will always love to be around their mommy. Most of the time, our cats will come to whatever room we are in, even if it to sleep.
Mommy to Thelma and Louise (beagle mixes), Larry, Sam, Rescue (cats), Logan (hamster) and Charlie (Morkie). I love all my furbabies!
