We dog-sat for my brother and his fiance over the weekend. As cute as Faeden and Delaney were together, she is a holy terror. She is all over him constantly. She not only bites his neck, but tries to hang on to the skin there. Last time she was around, I ended up with a $115.00 vet bill because he ended up scratching open the area on his neck where she was chewing. We sprayed bitter apple on his neck and it didn't phase her. Short of keeping them separated the next time around, how do I teach this little booger that this behavior is inappropriate? And just for fun, I'll throw some pictures in of the two of them playing together:
We aren't exactly sure. They adopted her from a shelter, who said she might be part Catahoula Leopard dog, but nobody is quite sure. I see a little bit of German Shepherd in her though. Here is another picture of her if that helps:
I agree he does resemble Spuds. He sure doesn't look aggressive when he's eating lol Maybe thats the answer, nah, Lord I don't know what to tell you, Irish's answer sounds like what I would do. Have fun lol
She is such a devilish little thing. You pegged that one right! I was hoping that Faeden would growl and tell her to back off Irish. He just doesn't seem to care enough to do that though. I guess it would be more bearable if my mom's dog wouldn't enter the room and start snarling and growling at both of them. She will even try to hump Faeden to get them to shut up. Imagine my wonderful relaxing Saturday with the three of them in the house!
The only solution I could find was to put Faeden's e-collar on him. He won't scratch at his neck, plus Delaney is terrified of it. He tries to scoop her up inside of it, lol. Unfortunately, that means one pissed off Golden Retriever, and lots of scratches and bruises on my legs from him ramming me with the darn thing! Oh well, I guess such as life. Thanks for the replies!
When he has had enough he will put her in her place. Mandy finally got enough of Kayla and has started to really growl at her. She never stops chewing on them or us. All the toys they have and she had rather chew on fingers or toes or them. Poor babies.
Leo022105, put a spike collar on Faeden. It will keep the over exhuberant guest at bay. Tiger Lily likes to play rough with the other two at times. When she got to biting and pulling on their necks, i put their spike collars on them. At first she still tried to go for their necks, but it didnt take long for her to figure out that it was not in her best interest to try to bite through them.
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
Hmmm...That's a good idea Dusty. I will have to try that.
Sandy I thought for sure Faeden would do the same thing! But he truly just stands there with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. Or he'll lay on the floor while she bites all over his neck. I'm starting to think that dog has some issues, lol.
