Yes Riley, even the puppies. I think i cried through that part the most. Especially when they told how they euthanized them and then placed their little bodies next to the already deceased mother. They were not even given a chance.....
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
It is very sad, I really think that a pit rescue should have been contacted for the pups, but I can understand the statement "there are so many pits in shelters that only the very best representatives should be adopted out."
Some quotes that I had to take a minute to regain my composure: "A happy brindle wagged his tail and licked Debbie's face until he collapsed."
""You'll have floppy ears in heaven," Debbie told him."
"Everyone wanted to kill the dog they loved most. They needed to see that it was done with kindness, the way you want to be there when your own dog dies, so it's personal."
Jesus. Words can't even describe the emotions you go through reading this. Thanks for sharing this Deb, even though it is very difficult to get through reading, it was so beautifully written. These dogs and officers that loved and cared for them, deserve to have their story told.
And then there are the pictures.. *sigh*
A thirty year mortgage at Michael's age essentially means that he's buying a coffin. If I were buying my coffin, I would get one with thicker walls so you couldn't hear the other dead people. -Dwight
I also think this is the saddest cruelty story I've ever read..but yes, it was written beautifully. I think the part that hurt the most to read was about the newborn pups..their veins were so small the needles had to go in their hearts =( I would have a hard time understanding why a puppy cannot be adopted out..atleast give them a chance..these poor babies never had a chance.
I agree I had it under control till we got to the puppys and I thought she is going to change her mind and take all them home and then the unthinkable.I cried. This is awful these poor little things never got a chance.
Ah the tears were flowing... sadly this happens DAILY in miami. I'm NOT exagerating by any means when I tell you Bullys are taken straight to the room, as in not even given the curtesy of temperment testing. A few slide by with looking like a boxer or American Bulldog, but this is very few. There are simply to many & the risk of them being a fighter is to hard.
For the rescue I volunteer at to even go in and take one is difficult because there are sooo many being left behind. It get's to the point of volunteer's being both emotionally & physically burnt out & I only see these emotions on weekends... imagine the workers/rescuers/volunteers that do this day in and day out =(
Yes, some do become hardened... but when even one shelter pet (of any breed) gets a chance, it is such a powerful feeling that there is no way to stop.
by spreading the word that Bully's are NOT the monsters society can make them out to be... maybe even just one family/person/rescue can find it in there hearts to take a chance. Again I stick to the fact that it was the best decision I have ever made!
All I can say is Why. Why do people do this to poor defenseless animals? I can imagine what these workers went through. It would have torn me up inside. Why are not the laws stricter against these types of people? Why?????????????????
OMG.....i haven't cried that hard since losing my Oscar. The tears just got worse when they talked about putting the puppies down. Aweful, aweful aweful!! I'm going to hug on my baby boys now...that's just totally hearbreaking. I have never had a bully before but of all the ones i've seen and on here I wouldn't mind one!!! Good grief....there is no way I could have done what those people did. No way. It would have killed me. It killed me enough to read it. PEOPLE ARE SUCH IDIOTS!!!!! That man should have been given the same treatment those puppies were!!! Why abuse something so helpless...something that looks to us for protection and love!!! STUPID SOB!!! He should be shot....no that would be easy....he should be tortured and put through the same pain!!! NEEDLESS deaths...there was NO reason for him to let those puppies live like that!! If he coudn't afford them b/c of "hard times" then he should have given them up!!!!! Taken them to a place where they could have been given a fair shot a living a good life. God bless them...they are with Him now..living the good life with all the love in the world, all the food they can handle and more chew toys that the biggest pet store on earth!!! I love them all.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me hapy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you..please don't take my sunshine away!
