my 3.5 year old black lab is 2 months early on her bi-annual heat...last one ended last april 1st and now she hot to trot already...is this normal bcause shes gotten away from me twice...tricked me in the middle of the night in fact and took off when its ususally for just a pee..i cant have a litter cause im going away this fall again to mexico in 2 months so...im pissed...shes never had a litter and seems hellbound to have one this time...im just hoping its a false heat...otherwise its to the vet to have her spade/neutered here soon
Heat cycles can vary with each dog. Kinda like in humans. It is not unheard of. If you are planning on spaying her, you should go ahead and make the appointment. Keep her leashed until she is through this cycle.
Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have any film.
above information is correct. I'm a Lab breeder myself. You can make the appointment to have her fixed AFTER the heat, you do not spay during heat cycles. Though it's not "normal" for heat cycles to happen like this, I myself have had this happen. Just wondering myself why she is not already spayed? But in answer to your question, there is not a health concern or anything like that regarding an early cycle.
Whatever you do please please ensure she does not get out. Labs have inherent problems, no matter how much you love your dog, you simply do not know and can't tell without testing including hips/elbows/eyes/PRA, heart etc... The fact she has "escaped" is an indication you need to do more and ensure it simply can not and will not happen. TIA
Actually dogs can be spayed during a heat cycle, but it is not advised. There can be complications due to excessive bleeding. Make the appointment for as soon as she ends her cycle and don't miss the appointment. Or you could be missing your trip and delivering unwanted, unplanned pups.

shes not spayed yet because i want a prodigy of my old yellow dog...when it suits my time line..ive been thinkin and i think i know what to do...if shes prego ill have her pups aborted...cross my fingers...i wormed them yesterday and when i heard cries to go out i automatically head for the dorr and unfortunattly i was half asleep and realized what i had done after she bolted out the door...bad timing for me...really stupid i know!...ive been through this 6 times so......im not a good person when im half asleep..
and BTW the original topic "early heat" was wishfull thinkin that she might not "take" because a similiar thing with the bitches cycle happened to a buddy and the dog had a false pregnancy ... thanks for all ur info too!
