please pray for my good friend Jimmy ( Mini Doxie)
You might want to ask for a referral for a orthopedic vet. They might be able to offer you more options for the injury. Is the dog over weight, because that is one of the leading causes of back problems in doxies.
He's your friend, your partner, your defender your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to worthy of such devotion
16 lbs? WOW, thats a bit too much, maybe you should consider helping your baby lose weight, it will be the best thing for him, When I got to petsit my neighbors dauchsand, she was really overweight as well, and I took her for a good run around the neighborhood, every morning and night, I fed her the normal amount the owners would feed her, and the dog lost two lbs in 1 week! I was only trying to do that dog a favor, it's not necesary for a dogs stomach to be practically touching the ground, their dog could hardly walk anymore, and she was only 1 year old, thats pretty sad. Sorry to hear your doggy is hurt, I hope you don't get the wrong inpression or anything, I was not trying to be critizing or anything! Hope your doggy gets better soon!
I am so sorry about Jimmy. Y'all have been through alot together. Poor little guy. Hope they can do something to help him. Maybe losing the weight will help. That will be hard too. I had a mini doxie years ago and he was real over weight. Never had any back problems thank goodness and even learned to sit-up. I guess thats kinda unusual for a doxie. He loved his Blue Bell icecream and we had to promise him that so he would be good when he took a bath. Aren't they something? But, we love them and I hope and pray the best for him.
I have to agree, while it is awfully hard, you really DO need to give his back time to rest and let the medications do their job. Potty, petting and massage, resting. That should be it until the vet clears him for more activity. The would also go for extra walking/running for weight loss.
Perhaps consider cutting back on treats or the amount you're feeding? That would help with the weight management until he can be more active.
"Don't accept your dog's admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful".
Awww bharathi. You and Jimmy have not had the best of luck. Sending big hugs and prayers that he will have a full recovery. Sounds like he has gotten to be a little fatty boy. The added weight certainly does not help if he is having back problems. You may want to ask your vet to put him on a food and exercise program to get a handle on the weight issues. (((( hugs ))))
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
I could not believe it He seems to be 100 % ok He can walk Only issue is when he poos I see blood I took the poo to the Vet. He will call me on this later tomorrow He wants me to give him Centrine for 1 week. He wants me to stop giving the medicine he gave earlier
