My 5-6 month old puppy, Missy has had diaherrea for the past two days (it's not notstop or anything..just there) It wasn't that bad yesterday, but today when she was outside, she pottied in the woods (it was runny) four different times. She has also thrown up three times in the past 3-4 weeks. I didnt really worry about it the first time cause I though she might have an upset tummy. Today when she threw up, it was just a tiny bit, but her throwing up plus having the runny poo is enough to worry me. She has a pretty good diet -- she eats a good sized amount of Purina Puppy chow every day, and a few spoonfuls of wet puppy/dog food every night when I put her up for the night and a few puppy treats during the day (in moderation). At first I thought (yesterday) that the runny poo was from the wet fod, but today along with the throw-up I'm not sure...could it be worms? We called the local vets office today, and they said its nothing to worry about, but we need to have her checked for worms. What do you guys think ? We are taking her to the vet as soon as possible if she doesn't get to feeling better soon.
Noyt sure if your puppy is a toy breed or not, but keep in mind puppies can dehydrate quickly. With the vomiting AND diarrhea, she runs a high risk of dehydration. Surprised the vet didnt sound more interested in seeing her. I would make an appointment, hope she is feeling better soon!
People are like slinky's, not really good for much. But its still fun to push them down the stairs.
boil some chicken and then use the leftover water to make some rice. Feed her just the chicken and rice for a few days. Still take her to the vet, but this diet will settle her stomach and control the runs. Don't freak out if there is a drastic reduction in bowle movements. This diet will slow things way down :) Then after everything is undercontrol again slowly ease her back onto her puppy food, perhaps a better brand of food while you are at it ;)
I prefur to have my Bordeaux with fur instead of a cork and bottle ;)
Well, it's been about a week since I posted this concern for my puppy. She is so much better now..there has been no throwing up, no runny poo, and she seems to be feeling so much better now. She's still going to go to the vet (again) just to make sure. Thank you guys so much for your help! I really appreciate it!
