We saw the vet about Riley's lump. He doesnt have a fever so its not an infection. She doesnt think its inflammation because the lump is not under the skin but in the skin I guess. She wants to put him on prednisone for a week to see if it is inflammation and it goes down. My only problem with that is Riley gets nasty on pred, and he has to be boarded this weekend in a group envrionment.
She said if it isnt inflammation we can talk about doing a biopsy. I'm wondering if we should just go ahead and do that? Or wait till after this weekend to start pred? Ugh.. I don't know.
I agree, I would do the biopsy asap. Hope everything is okay. I would get it done and then at least you will know what you are dealing with and he might not even have to take the predisone. It might be just a fatty deposit. Has the vet even took a guess and what it might be?
I talked to our trainer (retired vet) and she said not to start him on a steroid and she's never heard of doing that for a lump. She wants me to go in and get a needle biopsy done. So I'll be calling the vet in the AM. However they probably wont be able to squeeze me in till next week... grr.
