there were two blood spots on the floor this morning....she seems ok, but i'm not sure if this is normal...she has had greenish discharge and clear , but not reddish brown or in this large of a spot... anyone experience this?
Sory we missed each other it's 3:30 am her and I really need to get some sleep.
If her temp drops below 100 she will start labor within 12 hours most likley. If she is in labor and is having contractions start timing them. If you get a gush of liquid of any color and do not see a pupy soon afterwards feel for one if you can GENTLY pull pup out and get to the emergency room. If you can't feel pup off to the emergency room any way. If more than an hour goes between pups and she has had contractions since the last pup but no next pup is to be seen, go to the emergency room. Always watch her color of her gums if she goes pale get to the emergency room.
Otherwise keep pups dry rub them with a warm dry cloth untill they scream, make sure that they nurse and don't forget to keep them warm and give mama lots of watter.
Hope the rest of the nite goes well!
I prefur to have my Bordeaux with fur instead of a cork and bottle ;)
I can help you too. Can you tell me how far along is she? What is her temp? Can you tell me if she is nesting, is she eating/drinking? When was she bred and what was/is her actual due date. I'm on line, I will look for your reply.
did you take that with a good digital thermometer?
what you are describing is not normal. There is a serious disease called Uterine Inertia. I am not suggesting she is moving into that but I do know that blood spots and the green discharge you are describing, coupled with the low temperature is far from normal. Gestation is 63 days, most whelp day 60/61 from when they actually conceived you are not even close. I think a call into your vet is needed and I would have her checked out. I would not suggest you "play around with this". Again, no way am I suggesting something horrible or serious is taking place or about to but I am telling you what you are describing is not normal. Normal temp for a canine is about 101 give or take some.
Is there any possibility you are wrong on the dates and she's much further along then you think???? Have you had a sonogram or x ray taken?
If she is further along then you think by a few weeks then she is moving to whelp because that would put you closer to full term. When you call your vet PLEASE let him/her know you are not sure on the dates and she may be close to having puppies. You DO NOT want her around any other dogs in the vet's office. Very important!!!
Do you see puppies moving, kicking????? That would be a good indication because at only 5 weeks or so you can not see that yet.
Is she nesting???? Trying to dig a place to have puppies? Are you set up? do you have a whelping box and supplies you are going to need?
yes i moved prince out of the house yesterday and off to the sun porch...and she has a box ready ...i've only seen cats deliver before never a dog though ...i have towels and took the day off work just now:~ eek i'm nervous...she is like family ....
She is further along then you think, and she's moving to whelp.
