This is such a hard and personal question. When God created man, he gave him the "breath of life" (a soul).
"And the Eternal God breathed into his nostrils the neshama of life and the adam became a living soul. (Gen. 2:7)
I don't believe that animals have souls like humans do. That is what sets us apart from them. However, I do believe they have spirits (not the same as a soul) that animate their bodies and make them, them. I also believe that they will be in heaven with us. What the heck kind of heaven would it be if there weren't a representation of all of God's creations? Anyone who has spent time with an animal realizes that they are not just biological machinery. They do have thoughts, feelings, and some abstract thought. That comes from their spirit.
Personally, I don't really believe in ghosts. I think when things like this happen it is a manifestation of other beings. I have had some pretty strange experiences but I don't think it is our loved ones who are behind it.
I'm sorry for the loss of your dog. I hope it gets better, many of us around here have lost a pet as well.
Ok, I SO agree with huskyseehuskydo! Plus Ghosts are not real other then the Holy Ghost. So just relax! There is nothing to be "Creeped out" about other then your imagination. Or the things that are real. So just stop freaking your self out.
The difference between first and fith in a race is the amount of pampering you give your horse.
Oh, for Gods sake! I am not trying to win any "awards" for my topics. And I have freedom of speech. I just wanted to know what people like so I started with the first thing that came into my head. All you have to do is ignore my threads from now on. You know, like you've been doing.

I also feel I must give my 2 cents. Do dogs breath like humans do? Do dogs understand commands or words..as people do? Do dogs eat and sleep as people do? Do dogs show feelings, emotions (even if it's just their tail wagging) as people do? Do dogs have their senses such as seeing, feeling, smelling etc.. as people do? Do dogs feel pain etc...etc..etc.. I could go on..BUT Until you have an experience or can recognize one from the other side... then you wouldn't understand. But as that old time holiday letter said "Yes, Virginnia, there is a Santa.." "Yes your loved ones, people and animals, are always with you". I have to tell you this story... it's not about a dog.. but it's about unbelievers.. my husband and sons. We had a bad storm up here and my husband works for the highway dept.. He was called by an individual that a tree was down and blocking a road.. so instead of waiting until he was called out to do it on payroll... he desided to just take it on his own and go and cut it out of the road. He and my 2 boys went. About an hour later, all 3 came back and the were as WHITE AS A GHOST. They could only studder... I asked what was going on... they kept passing the buck.. you tell her..no you.. no you.. Well, when they were driving the pickup in the rain, with the thunder and lightning and pouring rain.. as they broke a corner.. there was a...lady... with a flowing white gown on.. with her white long hair blowing in the wind... leaning over a railing look across a meadow... they said.. she never turned...but her dress/gown and hair should have been drenched and clinging to her..but it flowing in the air as if it wasn't pouring and she was foggy... you could, like see through her... they said that DAD wouldn't stop...he didn't want to even talk about it... The boys said that after they removed the tree.. they said.. let go back and see.. Dad, being so muncho... said NO... we'll go the other way... (the LONG way) ha ha ha (chicken).. The next day, I went to that spot, and it was an old country cemetery, with a split rail fence... Now we have 3 believers... or people with open minds, they now know there is some things that we can't explain... not ghosts... spirits.
I have purchased some books on this matter... and now I understand it more.. Good luck.. enjoy it when it happens!
Redford95..I had a similar experience about 15 yrs ago. I was working in a nursing home. We were paired up at night, 2 staff for 35 residents. It was a fairly quiet night as most of the residents in that area of the building were bed-ridden. It was an old building so the residents didn't have bathrooms in their rooms. One side of the hallway was all the bedrooms. The other side of the hallway had a communal bathroom, a clean utility room for sheets, towels etc and a small dirty utility room for cleaning bedpans etc. The bathroom was near the far end of the hall. About 3 in the morning my co-worker and myself were sitting up at the top end of the hallway just chatting. We heard a noise from the other end of the hall and when we looked down a woman was standing at the end of the hall with an old frame type walker. Not the newer type with the wheels but the old type with the rubber feet on the bottom. The noise was the sound of the rubber feet rubbing across the tile floor. Neither of us thought much about it since there were a few residents that would get up during the night to use the bathroom. We continued chatting to each other. After a few minutes we both looked down the hall and saw the woman still slowly coming up the hallway. She would take two steps then drag this walker forward and stop. Again we didn't think anything of it since she was still working her way towards the bathroom. It was a few minutes later that we noticed she was now PAST the bathroom entrance and still coming up the hallway. It was at this point that my co-worker asked me who that was. We both stared at this woman trying to figure out who it could be. She was a very tall woman wearing a long flanel patterned nightgown. Her head had been down looking at the floor the entire time she was slowly walking up the hallway so we didn't see her face. We both decided she must be a new resident we hadn't met yet since only 3 residents we knew had walkers in that area and all had the newer wheeled walkers. She obviously couldn't find the bathroom since at this point she was now between the bathroom entrance and the clean utility room entrance or maybe just couldn't sleep. I told my co-worker that I would go down and see her and she could check the resident sheet to see who this new resident was. I headed down the hallway. When I got to within about 4 feet of her she lifted her head up, turned to the left and walked towards the wall...and then..disappeared. Yep...gone. I stopped dead in my tracks, turned around to see my co-worker standing at the other end staring at me with this look of disbelief. We both stood there for a second trying to figure out what the heck just happened! People don't just go through walls! I walked another 10 feet or so to the communal bathroom and checked in there..empty..I walked back up the hall past where I had been and checked the utility room..empty. We both stood in the hallway confirming that there WAS someone there right? What did she look like? What was she wearing? We both saw exactly the same thing. The tall woman with a patterned flannel nightgown using a frame walker. We immediately did a room check. She started at one end..I started at the other. Every bed was occupied. No frame walker anywhere. We checked the resident list. No new residents. We called the supervisor to see if there was a new resident anywhere in the building that fit the description. Nope. We called the other areas to ask them to do an immediate room check since we had a missing resident. All in bed. No one fitting that description. Not only do I KNOW there are ghosts..apparently they even come with props like a walker...weird...
Bins just don't fall over...so I hope this is comforting..to know you are not alone. Even though you can't explain it to others or it give it scientific reasoning to of why it happened... They say spirits have energy..can move things... turn power on/off... So enjoy that the love of this dog had enough energy to make you aware. Yes, some people will think we're nuts... but they also have this sense.. possibly aren't open to it..or don't understand it. It's kind of like when you have a gut feeling.. or have an instinct.. you can't see that, touch that etc.. it's just another one of our senses.. And the more we practise or use them ..the stronger they get. Good luck and I'm hope it happens again!
when we were looking to buy our first house I found a house we liked but I just couldnt live in. I tryed to tell hubby someone had died there but he didnt belive me. I could smell it and feel it (it didnt smell like rotten flesh or anything just like death in a strange way) Finaly i asked the realtor she said yes and we left. It was not a happy feeling. It was a slow sad lingering feeling (hard to explain.
When we went looking for a house this last time we walked into a house that just creeped me out. they had this painting of little boy blue on the wall. It was the same painting my grandma used to have on her wall and in the same place she had hers. I walked into one room and just couldnt stay. I told mike nope someone had eather just died there or someone was going to die there. It smelt like death (in a new tight way) and felt so strange. we found out no one had died but a old lady was living with her daughter and her daughters husband and she was just kind of wating to die.
In my house i hear children, people talking, loud thumps, and whipespers all the time.
I truelyu belive in something, call it a ghost, a soul, a sprit, what ever you want but I think something is there. Sometimes I think it should be feared, other times I think its nothing to worry about at all. but i think it should always be respected
I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame I'd even cut my hair and change my name
nansyorkies i aggree 100 percent with your reply. I beleive in ghost and that humans, and dogs, and all animals for that reason, can have ghosts. But i dont beleive what visited you WAS in fact a GHOST. I always thought ghosts were here to haunt us (bad) and souls or spirits were here to show us they love us and things like that (good)like your dog did. I personally beleive in all the ghosts, souls, spirits, and after life, or whatever you want to call it i am down. I have yet to have an experience but some things people say and show leave little room to argue. Now im not trying to push my religion on anyone but i am Christan and beleive in God and heaven and beleive all humans and animals are waiting up there for us to come get them one day where we live out the rest of our lives with them =) Thats just my opinion though!
