Well she has been here since Thursday and we have not been able to agree on a name. We were gonna just take it slow and let her personality shine through before we officially chose, but after her vet visit where they addressed her several times as No Name, I figured we had better get her named.
So here is what we have so far: My husband likes Noir and belle because in french they mean black and beautiful. However the way he wants to pronounce it would totally void it of any french meaning. He would like it to be spelled Noire Belle and pronounce it 'Nora Bell or Nora Bella'
I like Lucy and Nola and Aura, possibly Aura Bella
The kids like Stormy Dawn
The names Posey and Tinker have also been thrown out.
So what do you like? Noire Belle Lucy Nola Aura, Aura Belle, Aura Bella Stormy Dawn Posey Tinker
She is a english pointer/lab mix and is completely black even her eyes.
I think you have already picked out her name, you just don't know it yet. Why not name her Journey? I just looked at the pics you posted and she is a beautiful dog, I actually like your member name better than any of these choices for her...
A drug person can learn to cope with things like seeing their dead grandmother crawling up their leg with a knife in her teeth. But no one should be asked to handle this trip.
I like Noire Belle if you pronounced it the correct way. Only my opinion though. I think it's very unique and it's a nice way to describe her. Can I make another suggestion? How about Brenna? It means "beauty with hair as dark as a raven" - other variations include Brianna or Brynna. There is also 'Ciara' or 'Kira' which means 'dark' or 'black' in irish.
In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. ~Edward Hoagland
Okay we still could not come to an agreement so we put the names in a bowl and pulled one out. Looks like her name will be Lucy, which means light or illumination. Works well with her because she's so shiny. I know my husband really has a thing for Noire so that is now her middle name. Lucy Noire. Thanks for the input. :-)
