I have a 5 year old tortoise shell cat who just got a rabies shot last month. Ever since then she has gotten this OCD problem woth licking and scatching herself. She is nearly bald by her tail and on her back. She is constantly grooming herself. She has no fleas, ringworms, etc. She is an indoor cat. We have tried giving her tuna - we heard the juice was good for skin, we put a balm on her skin, we put a product on her skin that was supposed to deter her from licking and tearing her fur out. She has these little red bumps up and down her back from her tail to about halfway up her back. We don't know if they are bites from her, parasites, from her pulling her fur out, etc. We heard that benadryl would be a good antihistamines. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I just posted a thread with the same thing!! My baby licks himself until the hair is gone from one spot. Then it's raw and then turns all scabby!! The benadryl helps the licking and relieves him...but then I have to worry about the hotspots!!! I'm trying to figure out how to cure those now!!! Good luck!!!
