I really think that this gal has been through hell. The vet originally thought her to be between 2-3, but during her spay, she noticed alot of scar tissue and thinks she is more like 3-5 years old and bred to death. The pads of her feet are calloused and hard. Her paws are infected and swollen. Both eyes are infected along with one of her ears. She has several sores on her face, neck and chin and the skin is dry, cracked and red. I went to stroke the top of her head and she jumped out of her skin and slid back into a crouching position. I think she thought i was going to hit her. It brought tears to my eyes. She has spent most of her first day here sleeping on Quinns bed. I looked in on her awhile ago and her and hubby were sharing the pillow, passed out together and snoring away. lol He has been so good with her. He has been cleaning the folds of skin in her face and rubbing with aloe vera lotion. He is already calling her daddys girl so i think he is already attached. lol here are a few pics he took of her today. Hopefully the eye meds work and clear them up. They do not look to good, but she is the sweetest girl despite all her problems.
She's a beautiful dog Dusty, what a lovely colour. I can't see you parting with her, I know I could'nt. She's a lucky girl. Those D callouses will no doubt be from being kept in a wire cage, poor baby, and hence the feet have been constantly infected. Her coat looks amazingly good though, you'll soon have her all fixed up.
