He is a squirly little bug and wont let me trim/cut the hair around his eyes. I know hes a dog so how can he not let you do something....lol I get that alot when i say that, But he wont hold still and moves and fights to get away. I have even had my daughters hold his head and even hubby but still hes to wiggle to even try to get scissors by his eyes. he gets these hairs that go right into his eye ball and makes his eyes water like crazy and i do just try to get them out and he goes crazy even then but they are getting worse and i need to cut them so they dont stick him in the eye.' How can you settle down a puppy for a hair cut?
When you take your dog in well hes a puppy but anyways when you take them in to a groomer do they have the same trouble with them that we have? How can they cut a dogs hair when they wont let you? Its like he needs to be sedated for me to beable to get close to his eyes. Ive even just pushed them out of his eyes trying to get him use to me aorund his eyes and this isnt the first time ive had to cut his hair but hes gotton worse each time ive had to do it. Ive never cut him or anything and do give him a treat when hes done. or even when he jsut sits there and lets me do it. But ive tried everything i dont know what to do. But these pesky hairs need to be cut short
Buddy is a 100+ dog, a muzzle works well but when he decides to get upset I'm so scared my face will never look the same.
I called my vet and asked if she could help. She gave me ace tranquilizer to relax him. Ace will slow down the blood pressure so you have to make sure not to cut him as he will bleed quite a bit when under these meds. I haven't used it yet as the second trimming was done for the year but I will use it next spring.
Most dogs do not require being sedated to groom if done by a professional. It is an aquired skill. I would use hemostats and pull the hair rather than cutting it, but you still have to take care not to poke the dog in the eye.
He's your friend, your partner, your defender your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to worthy of such devotion
Take him to a groomer and they can get the job done safely. All three of mine need the fur trimmed on the inside of their eyes every few weeks. I have a great groomer that throws in free eye trim and nails between grooming visits. They get a full head to tail grooming every 8-9 weeks and they go in to see her once inbetween to get their eyes and nails done. Personally I wouldn't even attempt the eye thing. Too much risk for injuring a squirmy puppy! Call around and find out if any groomers in your area offer some kind of a package that is similar. My groomer started doing this years ago when she said people would bring in their dogs every 4 months or so and their eyes would be a mess not to mention their nails that were almost curled under. She said it's a lot less stressful for them to come in more often, they do get used to it. She says it makes her job a lot easier that way then the dogs that only see a groomer twice a year. I just call her up when their fur gets long around their eyes and she fits them in the next day. It only takes her about 3 minutes a dog :)
Louie use to let me trim his hair around his eyes but ive tried everything to cox him to let me do it..lol He isnt having it. So i keep slicking the hair back from his eyes. Being maltese i havent been cutting his bangs so they can be put in a slip not but being a boy hubby isnt really into that- Normally i keep all my dogs hair short so it isnt in their eyes. But these little pesky hairs are at the corner of his eyes basically and maybe i made the mistake of cutting them short a month or so ago and now they are growing back and they poke right into his eye which makes his eyes water
My thing with the groomer right now is Louie still has diahrea and i dont think can be left at a vets office for the 3 hours they need him. So this is why i havent taken him into the vet which he does need to go. Hes also starting to matt back by his butt area and hes a nightmare and wont let me brush him either. And trust me i try every day to get him use to it and have since i got him, some times he will relax enough to let me comb him for a few minutes. he freaks out in the bath tub, i feel so bad for him but hes had probably 4 baths since ive had him hoping to get him use to them like my other dogs are.
Louie is just a wiggle worm and Daisy and Bentley wernet like this when they were tiny pups, some what but Louie bites at the brush and i clean his face every night and hubby has to hold him so i can get the sleepys out of his hair around his eyes. Hes a hand ful i just hope he calms down the older he gets Will a groomer still take a puppy that has diahrea? I would of already taken him to the groomers to start getting use to them like i have with Daisy and Bentley but Louie going potty all the time i didnt think i should put that on a groomer to have to clean up after him.
would this be right of me to still take him? or wait it out till the vet can figure out why he has the runny stools?
