I have a 20 yr old daughter that found this pup in a lot she brought it home will this is the pits he is almost a year old have a crate that he is in but you can make this dog go out for a hour and then he comes in and messes I try to get him out every other hour but it does not work i would hate for him to stay in his crate but I just don't know what else to do my other dogs are labs i have raised little dogs but this dog I can not house break any help I would love it have two small kids as will and all carpet house just don't know what else to do. thank you

You have a bit of a problem on your hands, but with all due respect, where is your daughter in all of this? Is she working?
You must start crate training the dog immediately, and be prepared for a fight. Sart out slowly putting the dog in the crate for short periods, with a treat, a kong with peanut butter, or something she can work on for a while. Keep the times in the crate short at first, and slowly lengthen them. If she pitches a fit, just ignore her.If you know her potty habits, which you've probably figured out by now, take her out of the crate, and straight outdoors, and wait with her to do her business. When you put her in the crate for the night, don't feed or water her for a couple of hours before bedtime, and take her out side before crating her for the night. Cover her crate with a blanket, give her a treat and say night night, and ignore her, take her food and water away. She's old enough to hold her bladder and bowels, for the evening. In the morning, take her straight out, stay with her when she does her business, and lavish on the praise and treats. I'm sure I'm missing something here, so someone else feel fre to chime in!! Oh, how often do you feed hr, twice a day, or is she free fed? Try and watch roughly when she goes potty.
