Our 3 month old Caviler King Charles recently developed a "cough" that looks and sounds much like a cat with fur balls. It happens multiple time a day. Rarely does she actually vomit anything. We haen't made any changes to her diet. Could this be an alergic reacation to something? She has had two of her 3 puppy shots. At the last visit the vet has us give her a pill for fleas and the caughing started soon after. Any idea's or recommendations? Thanks.
Sounds like kennel cough to me. Just take her back, to make sure. It sounds awful, but it clears up.It could also be areaction to the meds, but if she's actually coughing, she could have easily picked it up at the vet's office.
Id get her checked over by your vet to be on the safe side. I dont know to much about pills for fleas, but i highly doubt that it would be an allergy thing, but yur vet will be able to tell you all about it anyway, while your there maybe lok at advocate or frontline instead. I found it works great with my cavs, and less fuss than a pill. However, Cavaliers do have a huge array of different noises they make, and what you are descibing could be one of those! They make this kind of reverse sneeze thing that takes a while to get used to!! My girl is asleep at my feet now and she just gave a big inward snort followed by a few snorty grumbles. I would get her checked tho, to be sure.
