My 3year old beagle is trying to mate with my 3year old doxie and he is neutered they have gotten hung up a few times i do not understand this i got him for a pal because he was neutered whats up? thanks from slippershoe
No she is not spayed I wanted to mate her but I think I will get her spayed he is always humping on her even when she is not in heat he got hung up as soon as they met and she was not even in heat.I know he is neutered he has a black strip where his cahoonies use to be thanks for replying from slippershoe and tootsie and rosco
With some dogs, the 'will' to mate is still there, even if they lack the ability to produce puppies. If he's bothering her when she's not in heat (and she's letting him) then it's possible, if not probable, that he'd try to mate with her regardless of whether or not she was spayed.
Also you really shouldn't leave the dogs together alone if he does this, because it's possible that one or both dogs could be seriously injured (and even killed from blood loss) if he or she pulls away wrong when they are tied and something rips.
Never trust a tall dwarf... he's lying about something.
Pen I hear ya! Both of mine are now neutered, but the one was neutered at 8 months or so and he still tries as well! Nothing ever happens or goes "further" than it should, but he does it out of the blue, no heat, no reason, and he's ELEVEN! You'd think he would get it by now :)
I have decided to get her spayed anyways they act like newlyweds they can not keep their paws off each other.I mean they be rockin and rooin all over the house I guess they are in love we are continue to try to break them from this sort of behavior. They do it when we have company and i hope they do not try to tango in front of my mother in law when she comes for dinner. Thanks every one. From slippershoe
What he is doing now could be a habit from when he was not neutered if he was used for breeding or allowed to "hump". It also depends on how long ago he was neutered. If it is very recent it may take awhile for the surgical procedure to become effective. You should also check with the vet who performed the procedure.
Bentley is almost 2 years old and has been neutered since he was 8 months old and when Daisy goes into heat, Bentley tries humping her- and i thought it was odd since he was neuteted but guess its normal my vet said. No, Daisy isnt spayed due to medical reasons- Bentley has never done the "deed" before so i dont know why he would be doing this? he never mated before so it isnt something he would remembering doing in the past. odd i think
