Hi everybody. I'm new to this site, but certainly not new to animals. We have one of almost everything, it seems. Dogs, horses, birds, not to mention the multitude of chickens! Our newest addition we have had for about a month now. Jetta is our 13 week old black and rust doberman pup. She just got her stitches from her ear crop surgery yesterday. What an ordeal that whole process is! So, looking forward to hearing back from ya'll and exchanging some great stories and infos maybe.
BTW JKK, and all you other Doberman fanciers, too. We opted for a military crop on Jetta's ears. I still feel that was best for us all. They seem to be doing well considering we are only 9 days post-op. We are massaging and all that. Any tips on ear care or massage techniques? I believe there is going to be no problem with them standing since they already do. But, she does have times where both ears will lean in to each other. This gives her a comical look. Will this improve with more time?
depends on the cut. i cant really say without seeing her. its could stop and possible it may not. I dont understand why the breeder did not do your pups ears. some vets do not do a good job at all and then the dog never looks right.
I think we both know that the breeder was trying to save some money. However, she is still a beautiful dog and we wouldn't take anything for her. Luckily, I have a good vet and I can't believe how fast she is healing. Her ears were actually standing the day after. I read everything I could find before having the surgery done. I'm pretty sure that her ears are still just in "training". Guess I am just a bit nervous about it. Thanks for the info.
