My 14 week old puggle has cherry eye in both eyes. I have only seen one vet who advised that it would cost around $700 to fix one eye. This was before the cherry eye developed in the other eye. Is this a high price? I am in NJ and want to take him for a couple more opinions, but I don't know where else to take him.
I would DEFINITELY get a referral for an animal eye dr, an Opthamologist. Your vet will be able to give you a name or 2, and I would be able to get you a name if you wanted to private message me where in NJ you are.
Are these prices that you all are quoting me for tacking down the gland or for removal? I know that removal is less expensive, but also could create problems later on. We got another quote of $495.00, not including pre-op blood work. All of the other vet opthalmologists in our area were not in, as there is some big convention this week.
I have a chihuahua who developed cherry eye in only one eye at around 8 months old and just had the "tack in place" surgery last week. It did not work at all and she has to have the gland removed. The initial surgery cost me $466 including collar and antibiotics in Northern New Jersey. Good luck!
