Some kid at my school put in the paper all older kids, in high school, wanna do it make trouble and steal little kids cant so it should be a law that no one in high school can trick-or-treat. Boy let me tell you they have NUMEROUS people calling wanting to submit something to the editor. Because it was wrong. Some kids, sure, thats what they do. But not ALL and not even MOST kids even think of doing that. I live in a small little town where everyone knows everyone and nobody does that. So for it to become a law would just ruin everybody. People are always saying 'Be young while you can because it goes so fast'. Well, this is a perfect way to enjoy childhood while you can!
One of the reasons I love trick or treat is,not only do you get candy, you can dress up your pets! This year I dressed my little yorkie,Nigel,up like a rock star! He was soooooo cute! I dressed up my mix up like Spiderman! He was really, really,REALLY cute!
Or you can be like me and live in the middle of no where and no one shows up for candy. In 12 years I have had two kids show up, and they were driven here by the neighbors grandparents. Of coarse I did not expect anyone, so I did not have candy to give, so I just gave them each a buck. They were pretty happy, so I did think they would come back the next year. But didn't happen. Oh well.
He's your friend, your partner, your defender your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to worthy of such devotion
I went with my two girls (2 & 5) and I was even dressed up like Dolly Parton with a bag. (Big afro white wig on with a red polka dot dress and bright red lipstick and loop earrings) You should have seen the people that looked at me like I was nuts and would not give me any candy. I eventually left the bag in the stroller. It is not like we live in a large town either, 200 people MAX, everyone knows everyone. I would not have a problem giving candy to older kids as long as they are dressed up and make the effort. Now kids with no costume and just a bag, no way!
a little late yes I know but i can't help it......
i for one am not against the older ones trick or treating....if it keeps them out of trouble....and keeps them busy having fun then i'm cool with it!!! i don't mind staying up till whenever to hand out candy...i love it!!! i love seeing all the costumes and all the little kids...it's a day for fun and tons of candy!!! so the doorbell 'might' ring after i turn my light off...oh well...it's not like it's a megainconvience!!! i find the ones that don't want kids around are the grumpy older people in the neghborhood that don't like kids anyways....i happen to love them!!! :)
Momma to Gunor Shane and Russel Gage Marcus!! Best boxer boys in the world!! :)
I'm 14 and I just went trick or treating with my friend and sis and we all did 80's rockstars and it was just so much fun!!!! Some ppl did look at me weird but I just ignored what kind of faces they made. My friend is 13 and my sis is 11. Just 2 let u know.
OMG, we were bombarded this year. The giant bag of mixed candy was gone by 8! I was serching the whole house for something to give away. I don't mind the older kids at all, but I did notice not one kid over 10 bothered to say thankyou. The little guys were all very sweet. I was lazy this year and didn't bother to dress up myself or the dogs. I do have pink hair this month, but I didn't do it for Halloween, LOL.
I think in todays world its inevitable that older children will be out trick and treating, its just not safer for the younger ones anymore. My kids are aged 10 and 11 and I certainly wouldn't let them out on their own at night tricking and treating. Its not so wildly celebrated in this part of the world, but I think its a great tradition and love to see all the kids dressed up.
My most polite trick-or-treaters was actually a group of teenaged boys. I had big groups of smaller children who rudely grabbed handfulls out of my bowl and didn't even say thank you. Then I had these 3 older boys who politely took one candybar each until I insisted they take at least 3. And then after they took the candy, they all thanked me. I was looking forward to Halloween in my new neighborhood because I love the costumes and I love to hand out the candy. I thought we'd have a ton because the houses are close together and it's a quiet street. I was hugely disappointed at the number of my neighbors who had their lights off and the fact that we got so few kids because of it.
You know what I hate? Is when the parents drive door to door, with the kids hopping in between each house. So, you want me to give your kid candy, but none of your lazy butts can WALK to my door? No thanks! With the way this world is, I'd be sued for making their kid fat.
But, no kids came to my door this year. Good thing, cuz I didn't buy candy, so they'd have gotten a granola bar.
