My 7 year old Pit Bull Mercedes is a sensative dog.
We found out last year she's allergic to rock salt, cause she breaks out in hives. So we got her booties.
Now on October 10, 2007 she broke out in really bad hives and her face was extremely swallen. We rushed her to the vet and he gave her a shot of steroids and benadryl. We took her home and the hives stopped.
The next day on October 11, 2007. The hives were back, she was throwing up and had diaherra everywhere. We took her to the vet. They kept her for 2 days overnight and had no idea why this happened. And one night at the vet while we were visiting. I opened the cage to let her out, and she had blood just pouring out of her butt. No answers at all. they sent her home on pretazone and sulfacate to coat her stomach. Now she's been relativly okay since then. She has thrown up, and she just has a sad look in her eyes.
But today I was walking her and I keep a close eye on her. As she was pooping I saw a drop of blood again.
I don't know what to do and no one has any answers as to why this is happening.
I need help, cause I want to fix her and I can't.
Oh and she's been on a diet of Chicken and Rice since October 13th.

They don't know what caused the reaction. The Vet just said she had a severe allegric reaction to something outside, which irriated her bowel and intestines. The bleeding actually happened while she was hospitalized in the vet's care. So they know all about it.
All the medication was to coat her stomach to calm down her bowel and intestines, and the steroids were to get her stronger.
But on Wednesday I found worms in her poo. They looked like little rice and the vet said they were tapeworms. So now she's got 2 nickle size deworming pills, and she'll repeat them in 14days. They said she could have swallowed a flea that was infected (even though she's frontlined). So now we have all 4 of our dogs on dewormer so they don't pass it back and forth.
I'm just hoping this is what the initial problem was, and now she'll get better.
Even though your gone, you'll forever be in my heart. .~*Molly*~.
I am so sorry to hear your baby is sick. Not trying to alarm you...I am far from a doctor but my babies have mast cell tumors (cancer). One of the signs of a mast cell tumor metasticing is hives. Mast cells sometimes look like zits or moles. When they are hit it releases hystamine in there bodies which causes hives....if the cancer has got into there blood stream it can cause the vomitting and diarhea. Do a search on Mast Cell tumors on the internet and read about it.....then check your baby over from head to toe for anything unusual looking. Look EVERYWHERE!! One of my Boxers had one under her tail. Bulldogs are prone to mast cells. Not saying this is what your baby has but worth checking out. Hope he gets better. In the meantime give him lots of love!
