I have a pregnant dog that is 59 days today and I've been taking her temp. and the past couple of days its been really off the wall first it will be 98.2 then it will be 99.3 then 100.1. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this ment she would be whelping soon??? I am new to this so some advice would be VERY BIG HELP! Thank you for your help and time!
63 days is the "norm". You might want to wait until she shows signs of labor before taking her temp again. I am scooting off to get ready for work, so until someone who can help logs on, you might want to check out this thread; http://terrificpets.com/forum/47517.asp It should answer some of your questions.
Good luck with the whelping!

If her temp is bouncing around that much, she isn't ready yet. Been there, was confused about that! Also, make sure you are taking the reading correctly, as I later found out, I wasn't! Maybe your vet can show you the proper way. Is she showing any signs of labor? Nesting, panting, pacing, etc.?
As a breeder, I don't usually do the temp thing. It is rather obvious when they are in labor. They can whelp anywhere between 54 days and 67 days and still be considered normal. The actual due day depends on when the fertizied eggs actually implanted. But 62-63 is what we base the whelping calendar on. My girls consistantly whelp on day 60. Do you have your whelping box set up and all your needed supplies? Having everything you need when the time comes really will save you a lot of unneeded stress.
