Well, Suzie hair is getting longer now, and her hair is curly. So she is matting easily, its not really matting but its getting tangled. We are probably gonna take her to the groomers in the next 2 weeks and have her completely done. But, in between now and then what kind of brush would you use on medium length hair? Thanks!

I use a slicker brush on my 'tzus for daily brushing. When it comes to tangles, I got a special comb from a pet supply store that has rotating teeth. They don't get all caught up in the hair and they have removed some really nasty matts. I also keep grooming spray on hand, from Crazy Dog, which has conditioners/detanglers designed not to dry out the dog's skin.
From a show persons prespective $16.95 for a good pin brush is not expensive. I have brushes from Wal-Mart and Walgreens, etc. trust me they might look alike in a picture, but I can guarantee they are not alike.
Also from a show dog person's prespective, a slicker brush is a fast way to ruin the dogs coat. Different dogs, have different coat types, there are just certain brushes that are not suited to certain type coats. Any dog that is considered a drop coat bred as a Shih Tzu, you use a pin brush. And if you want a really nice coat on them, you use a really good brush.
